Is it time to shake up your digital presence?

In 2022, having a strong online presence is more important than ever.

Studies have shown that 97% of consumers search online for local services, 83% visit a company based on information they find online and 63% of shopping journeys start online. Those are some big numbers!

When built properly, your digital presence can be your best salesperson, an engaging educator, a top notch community builder and customer service assistant. It plays so many roles in your business, and makes a big difference to your results – so it makes sense to invest wisely in it.

Here are five signs that it might be time to refresh your digital strategy and shake up your online presence.

  1. Your website feels stale

If you’ve been looking at the same website for years, it’s probably starting to feel a bit stale and stagnant.

Remember that first impressions are important on websites, and many people don’t last more than a few moments before clicking away onto something else. So if yours looks old and outdated, then it’s not going to be a good reflection of your business, and probably won’t retain traffic and drive sales as well as it could do.

This gut feeling will be the first clue that it’s time to shake up your website and create a more up to date online space for your brand.

  1. You’re not getting enough traffic

If you aren’t getting much traffic to your website, it’s probably because the search engines can’t find you. Search engines like Google are so important because they make sure people looking for your services can land on your website and find what they need.

Ideally, you should strive to show up in the top results of Google for your relevant searches, and if that’s not happening then it’s likely your search engine optimisation (SEO) needs improving – a good sign that it’s time to ramp up your digital efforts.

  1. Your followers have plateaued

Maybe you were gradually building a steady number of followers on social, but you’ve reached a plateau and it’s not getting any higher. Perhaps you’re struggling to retain your numbers, losing followers as quickly as you can grow them, and not getting as much engagement as you used to.

Sound familiar? If your social media numbers aren’t growing, it’s time to shake things up. Start utilising different platforms and other media formats to make the most of your social presence.

The key to social media growth in 2022 is to make sure you’re utilising video. Video content is one of the biggest forms of content right now, and with the Instagram algorithm pushing video content and Reels over any form of imagery, your pictures might just be getting lost in the crowd.

  1. You don’t have a blog

If your website still doesn’t have a blog – this is your next sign that it’s time to revive your online presence.

Blogs are still hugely important when it comes to driving traffic to your website. In fact, we go into detail about all the reasons you need a company blog on our own blog. Check it out for more tips and ideas on how to launch one and maintain it successfully.

  1. Your website is difficult to navigate

Every website has a handful of key pages – usually products, services, and the contact page. If your key pages are difficult to find, that’s a huge red flag that your website needs a serious overhaul.

Maybe it’s because your site isn’t mobile responsive (another red flag), or maybe it’s been chopped and changed so often over the years that it just doesn’t make sense anymore. Whatever the reason is, you’ll never reach as many people or generate as many leads if no-one can find your products.

It’s time for a change!
